Dr. Hollingsworth

Dr. John Hollingsworth

A native of Greenwood, South Carolina, Dr. Hollingsworth finished Greenwood High School in 1986. He attended Clemson University from 1986 until he began dental school in 1990 at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston. During his time at the Medical University, Dr. Hollingsworth was president of his class all four years. He was also a teaching assistant in the gross anatomy laboratory course. Upon graduation from the dental school in 1994, he received the Alumni Student Leadership Award, the Pierre Fauchard Academy Award, and the International College of Dentistry Award.

After receiving his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree, Dr. Hollingsworth furthered his education through an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency(AEGD), also at M.U.S.C., where he received special training and valuable experience in his craft before starting dental practice.

In 1995, Dr. Hollingsworth and his wife, Lynn moved to his hometown of Greenwood where he ran a successful family dental practice for six years. In 2001, he sold his Greenwood practice and joined his old friend, Ron Sconyers, as a partner in Anderson Family Dental Care.

Dr. Hollingsworth is a member of the American Dental Assiciation, the South Carolina Dental Association, the Piedmont District Dental Society, the Tri-County Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry. His is a past president of the Upper Savannah Dental Society. He has served on the S.C.D.A. Long Range Planning Committee and the S.C.D.A. Educational Foundation Committee.

To keep his knowledge of dentistry at the highest level possible, Dr. Hollingsworth is dedicated to continuing education, receiving more that three times the amount of hours required each year. Dr. Hollingsworth enjoys treating people from all walks of life, including children, offering each person the best dentistry possible.

Dr. Hollingsworth and his wife have two children, Jake and Julia. They are active in the First Baptist Church, Pendleton, where he teaches Sunday school. He has served on the board of the Lion's Club in Greenwood as membership director and the United Way of Greenwood County as the chairman of the Strategic Planning Committee. He is a volunteer at the Anderson Free Clinic, and has coached youth baseball, basketball and soccer.

Dr. Hollingsworth enjoys spending time with his family, all sports, fishing, traveling and watching his Clemson Tigers.
